Concord-Carlisle makes a statement as Masconomet, Tyngsborough and the unbeatens hold the line

Concord-Carlisle shut out a 6-1 Hopkinton team 5-0, Masconomet and Norwell handed Beverly and East Bridgewater their first losses, Central Catholic and Pope Francis stayed perfect, and Tyngsborough survived a 4-3 test at Hudson in a busy week from the Berkshires to the Cape.

Concord-Carlisle has spent September winning without much fuss. On Wednesday, it won loudly.

The Patriots took apart Hopkinton 5-0 in Concord on Sept. 30, with Emmy O'Donnell scoring three times and Caroline Ferrari and Ainsley Siefer adding one apiece. Hopkinton arrived 6-1 and scoring better than three goals a game. On Monday it had won a 4-3 thriller over Natick, a game in which Natick's Zoey Carlisle scored twice. Concord-Carlisle is now 7-0 and has conceded one goal all season.

It was that kind of week across Massachusetts: the unbeatens mostly held, a couple of perfect starts ended, and several programs answered a setback with a quick rebound.
