What the rating means
Rating is a team's average goal margin, capped at plus or minus 3 goals a game, plus the average rating of its opponents, so it rewards winning by more and playing tougher teams.
Opp. rating measures schedule strength, and sorting by it shows the toughest schedules.
MIAA uses the rating to rank teams in each division, and the top 32 in each division make the tournament.
Concord-Carlisle is 1.6364 + 2.7497 = 4.3861.

Leading scorers among ranked teams 2026
How the rating is calculated
The rating is the average goal margin, capped at plus or minus 3 goals in any one game, plus the average of the opponents' ratings. MIAA solves that statewide over repeated passes, because each team's rating depends on its opponents' ratings.
No win percentage, no recency weighting, and no division weighting. A Division 5 team is on the same scale as a Division 1 team.
When a result is a forfeit, MIAA prints a forfeit adjustment next to the rating. The PDF says to use that adjusted number, not the unadjusted rating, when calculating opponents' ratings. This table shows the published rating. No team in this release has a forfeit adjustment.
Worked example, from this release: Concord-Carlisle is 1.6364 + 2.7497 = 4.3861. That sum is the published rating.
Bishop Feehan is 10-0-2 with an opponent rating of 3.1776, and ranks above Franklin (11-2-0, opponent rating 2.5990). The harder schedule is in the rating. The record is not.
